My first summer as I was learning to ride saddle bronc horses, I chose Jackson Hole as the rodeo to learn my skills. That was in 1982. Back then Jim Houston was the rodeo promoter and the rodeo was 5 nites a week. Now, I think they only rodeo 3 nites a week.Our family of 5 did this adventure our 2nd full day in Jackson Hole. Kids were 10, 13, & 16. Two hour adventure consisted of constant immersion into the rodeo scene of barrel racing & lassoing a mannequin steer. Guides were patient and knowledgeable as they are the real deal in that they actively participate in the Jackson Hole rodeo. We really enjoyed the Jackson Hole Rodeo! It was low-key, fun, and entertaining--a great outing for the whole family. At one point, all kids ten and under were invited to come down onto the arena floor to try to catch some sheep. The rodeo clown kept things comical and knew how to work the crowd, and all of the events were fun to watch.
